The Origin of Tuija

Well, in the fall of 2000, in the 10th gradeMichael Cole I started playing with Matt Clements and Jared Malone to try to play some punk music to change the face of music. We played for a little while and we just didn't seem to click that well. Matt moved to a military academy and couldn't play anymore. Jared didn't feel like playing if Matt wasn't in the band anymore.

Later on that year, Michael and I met up with J.R. Vaughn. He played guitar alright and he was really into Green Day. He played some Nirvana too. He would write these really simple songs that were just weird. Like the "Coke Song". It was bizarre. I really wan't that good at guitar either though. I had started playing in 2nd grade and quit in 6th because no one I knew played. I was learning from J.R. the basics of it all. J.R. moved the next year to Pebblebrook and he wasn't in the band anymore.

In the Fall of our 11th grade year, Michael and I were trying out lots of drummers, but we couldn't find any that were serious. Michael found Caleb Iturrizaga and asked him to play. He gathered Me, Patrick, Caleb, Marint Smith and himself to play together. It was shaky at first, trying to get through everyone's styles. Patrick played a lot of funky stuff, and I was really into Metallica and Megadeth at the time. We wrote some good songs including: "The Dyke Song", "Moving On", and Fu Manchu(Which I still play today). About 3 months later, when we were about to have a show, Caleb quit because he would rather skateboard. We got Rhys to play with us for that show and hopefully he would play with us for longer, but he had 2 other bands in the making; Dead By Summer and Left to Rust. He isn't in either band now though.

After all of that, Patrick and I continued writing song after song and searching for a drummer to fill the worn soles of the feet on Tuija. We were at Rhys' house one day practicing and Tenball showed up to practice like they did every Tuesday and Thursday. I recognized the singer because he was my old best friend's brother. I talked to him and asked how his bro had been doing. Matt, his brother, called me shortly after and heard that we had a band. He said that he wanted to play drums for us. I said, "Sure". He was my friend and I wanted to give him as much of a chance as possible. We heard him play and he was pretty good. So, we added him to our lineup. We played for a while, but we soon found that he couldn't keep a steady rhythm or a timing correctly. I wanted to tell him that he was out, but I wanted to give him a chance to improve. I knew that he couldn't practice a lot because of his apartment space and neighbors. He quit shortly after because "we" weren't serious enough. I was dead serious about everything we were doing. I liked it and it was fun. Soon after, we couldn't find another drummer and Michael stopped coming to practices because he thought it wouldn't make a difference. So, I kicked him out. Patrick and I played for a little while after that, but it was weird with just us two. Michael and Patrick's equipment is still at my house. Martin's mics are at my house too.

I always wanted a Marshall Stack in another color other than black. It just seems like it would be cool because it would be different. I white one or red, or purple would kick ass.
